Fall Program Assistant (Internship)

We are seeking a fall intern in the role of Program Assistant who is excited to join a small team to make a big impact. This internship will provide insight into both DC Ed Fund as well as our only client, DC Public Schools.
 
General Overview:
The Program Assistant role encompasses three work streams: 1) Managing his/her individual fall project, 2) Supporting the Program Manager on managing Standing Ovation and 3) Assisting other members of the Ed Fund team with their daily work. This role will be responsible for completing a project that spans the length of their internship, typically 8 to 10 weeks. An example of a past project is creating an onboarding handbook for any new DCPS stakeholder which described our history, mission, workstreams, and procedures. Additionally, this role will assist other members of the Ed Fund team with their workstreams involving grant budgeting, event planning and execution, grant writing, and/or operations.
 
We all wear many hats at the Ed Fund and this internship will provide a wide range of experiences and opportunities to engage in our important work with DCPS.
 
The Program Assistant is a paid position, with the opportunity to work up to 20 hours/week.
 
Qualification Requirements:
Candidates should have a passion for education and a belief that all children deserve an excellent education. Candidates should enjoy working in a results-oriented, fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment. A successful candidate will possess/be:
 
  • Currently enrolled or recent undergraduate or graduate student
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment
  • Top-notch writing skills, and a desire to dedicate significant time and energy to writing multiple types of documents (reports, presentations, proposals)
  • Strong verbal communications skills
  • High level of personal responsibility, initiative, and motivation with strong organizational skills; ability to drive projects forward and be persistent, as well as be flexible and patient
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, aptitude for working with a wide range of individuals, and strong collaborative teamwork skills
