Custer State Park Intern Naturalist

Intern is responsible for delivering environmental education (EE) programs designed to meet state education standards to various pre-school and elementary age groups. He/she should be comfortable presenting to, and managing, large groups of students with teachers and chaperones present. During the spring season intern will also be responsible for conducting field trips for elementary groups traveling to the park. Additionally, intern will work with permanent naturalist to develop pre and post activities for teachers to conduct in the classroom. As part of the "EE" program, intern will evaluate programs by assessing pre-program knowledge and attitudes and post-program knowledge and attitudes. 
Additional responsibilities will include staffing the Visitor Center and assisting visitors, assisting with the change from winter to summer programs, and a self-directed project determined based on intern interest and park needs. 
A basic understanding and knowledge of natural history or teaching methods is beneficial but not required.
