Lead Quality Specialist

*** This position would be located in China 90% of the time, and Cottage Grove, WI the remaining 10% ***
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Lead Quality Specialist is someone who represents the Quality Inspection Process Requirements, leads the Quality Specialists daily, plans the daily schedule, is the communicator between JIS Specialists and JHTNA and performs all requirements professionally and to the best of their ability in accordance with company policies and procedures. Duties include conformance of the requirements, upholding our Quality Standards, leading and supporting the Specialists, attending the daily production planning meeting and submitting detailed inspection reports to JHTNA.
Responsibilities:
Inspector Responsibilities
  • Lead Level 1/Level 2 Specialists for daily job requirements.
  • Provide Quarterly check-ins for the Specialists.
  • Be the contact for JHTNA Quality Engineers and Inspectors to streamline communications.
  • Perform finished goods inspection process (FQC checklist, Master workbook data and email to Inspection team).
  • Maintain completed inspections data base (Master Workbook).
  • Communicate defects that should be raised to a SCAR or elevated to the PSC (Product Safety Coordinator).
Perform additional Level 2 duties
  • Proficient performance of Level 1/Level 2 duties
  • Train new Inspectors
  • Understand and execute AQL Process
  • Assist with creation and management of documents
  • Assist with process development
  • Assist with gauge maintenance and calibration
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis
  • Participate on 5S Sprints or lean six sigma projects.
Leadership:
  • Act as a team player by assisting Level 1 QI inspectors in completing their tasks and maintaining high level of customer service
  • Able to effectively lead Level 1 QI Inspectors to complete tasks accurately and timely
  • May need to lead other special projects as needed

  • Recommend changes to ensure safe and productive workplace

Qualifications:
Education:
  • High school diploma required
  • Associate degree or equivalent in work experience preferred
  • Additional training and/or certifications in quality systems preferred
Experience:
  • Technical and/or mechanical background required
  • Past experience in an inspection or repair service role preferred
  • Consumer products experience is a plus
Other Requirements:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point required
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Reside in China 90 percent of time
  • Travel may be required to offsite facility
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments such as VOM calipers, tension gauges, etc.
  • Valid drivers license is required
