Economic Empowerment- Early Employment Intern
The Early Employment intern’s activities will concentrate on building economic empowerment capacity that will benefit IRC’s offices across the United States. The central focus will be to improve the effectiveness of employment programs that help refugees to navigate the American job market and find employment. These employment programs help refugees attain economic self-sufficiency and begin their journey toward integration.
COMMITMENT: 4-5 months from August to December 2019, 15-20 hours per week
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review programmatic and operational needs of employment programs in IRC offices and identify priorities.
- Identify 3-6 priority projects that would advance programmatic performance of employment programs in IRC offices.
- Assist with data analysis and review self-sufficiency reports submitted from the field.
- Develop and complete 3-6 projects that improve employment programmatic performance
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or coursework in instructional design, management, social work, or a related field preferred
- Familiarity with the U.S. resettlement program or immigrant service provision preferred
- Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and present complex information in a concise, accessible way
- Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
