Career Counselor - Dislocated Worker program



POSITION SUMMARY: 


If you get excited about networking, career development, and helping people succeed, joining Avivo’s career services team may be for you! We’re looking for a Career Counselor who is professional, who’s a connector and passionate about people. Working collaboratively with Avivo’s recruitment team, you will provide career exploration, job placement, and support services to individuals eligible for the Dislocated Worker Program. The Counselor will develop and maintain current employer partner relationships as well as develop new relationships with businesses to coordinate services in the community, place people into employment, and provide retention supports to those actively employed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Facilitate program informational sessions; enroll and complete needs assessments, develop individual employment plans to stabilize situations and advance goals to employment for participants.
  • Assist participants in accessing public and private resources to meet plan goals.
  • Facilitate short-term skills training and employment readiness sessions, provide resume and cover letter writing support, assist with job application process, attend job fairs with or representing job seekers, and actively help build particpants’ confidence/self-esteem.
  • Complete electronic participant case notes in timely manner.
  • Actively recruit and develop new employer relationships for hiring Avivo participants and help increase employer engagement with current Business Partner Council members and employers.
  • Keep current on labor market trends and industry employers.
  • Represent Avivo at employer-sponsored events that support cooperation and networking with recruiters and hiring managers.

 


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral science or related field.
  • Have or ability to obtain the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Certification.
  • Placement and job development experience required. 
  • Experience working with adults with disabilities, veterans, immigrants or other barriers to employment.
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and experience assisting individuals accessing community resources.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining professional business relationships.

 

WAGE:  $18.27 / hour
