Database Communications Specialist VISTA

Position Summary
The VISTA engaged as our Database Communications Specialist will play a key role in streamlining and improving communications with Aeon’s stakeholders.

Creating and preserving affordable housing is challenging, but necessary, work. Success requires overcoming stereotypes, securing significant funding from multiple partners, collaborating with service partners, and maintaining ongoing and enthusiastic support in the community. Aeon's ability to build stronger communities relies heavily on strong communications with our network of donors, partners and supporters.

Under the supervision of and in collaboration with our Salesforce Administrator, the Database Communications Specialist will work to improve the key system upon which our relationships rely – the Salesforce CRM. The work will support data-driven communications for our target audiences and improving Aeon's ability to track and share our impact. The VISTA will focus on building familiarity with Salesforce and then leveraging its full power for reporting and communications and, ultimately, enable Aeon to promote affordability, safety, and stability in our community.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Database Knowledge Building: The first role for the position will be to learn to use Aeon’s instance of the Salesforce database. In-house training will be supplemented by external learning opportunities.
Process Documentation: With the Salesforce Administrator, the VISTA will identify documentation needs for Salesforce usage within Aeon and develop a full user’s guide. This will cover key reporting and communications functions of the database. The outcome will be a living document that guides usage of the CRM into the future.
Dashboard Creation: Create dashboards for key staff members across departments, based on their unique communications and reporting needs. This process will involve understanding the staff’s usage of the CRM and the organizational and programmatic goals sought. The VISTA will interview appropriate staff, and in consultation with the Salesforce Administrator, build customized dashboards.
General: Participate as an active member of the Advancement team, including supporting other activities as needed. Build and support external partnerships to contribute to the broader conversation about housing affordability.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong affinity for understanding data and how it works together within a database environment
  • Comfort working in economically, socially, and ethnically diverse communities
  • Comfort and familiarity with basic Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience working with databases helpful, especially Salesforce

Compensation
This position is a NeighborWorks AmeriCorps VISTA position. VISTA members will receive a living stipend of $944.44/month, $150 monthly grocery stipend, paid time off, health coverage through VISTA, an Education Award of $6095 or end of service stipend of $1800 and may qualify for Child Care assistance.
