Burn Injury Research Opportunity at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Description
The USAISR is one of six research laboratories within the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC). The institute is the U.S. Army's lead research laboratory for improving the care of combat casualties. Its mission is to provide requirements driven combat casualty care medical solutions and products for injured soldiers from self -aid through definitive care across the full spectrum of military operations. Additionally it provides state-of-the-art burn, trauma, and critical care to DoD beneficiaries around the world.
This opportunity takes place at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. The objective of this educational opportunity is for participants to gain hands-on experience researching the development of a novel wound dressing for acute battlefield wounds. Participants will benefit from world-class medical staff's expertise in this effort to design and study the application of the dressing for optimized delivery and performance. Participants will have opportunities to network and collaborate with scientists from both the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Medicine to enhance their research experience.
Appointment Length
This appointment is a five month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.
Participant Benefits
Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by USAISR. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

Nature of Appointment
The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.
Qualifications
Candidate must have a Doctoral Degree.
