Accounting Analyst

Immediate opening for an Accounting Analyst under the direct supervision of the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Analyst is responsible for supporting the Director of Accounting and the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely financial record for the organization. 

Essential Functions:
  • Analyzes accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conforms to the standards defined within the department.
  • Works with the Director of Accounting on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
  • Reviews records of accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Files taxes to meet all requirements.
  • Completes reconciliations of records.
  • Meets both month-end and year-end financial closing activities and requirements.
  • Assists in documentation of internal controls.
  • Creates forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.

Requirements
  • Ability to successfully multi-task in a deadline based environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced level of experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, etc.
  • Views the position as providing both internal and external customer services
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Valid Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • The Accounting Analyst has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a facilitator for the Accounting Assistants.

Physical Demands:
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, opening filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • Ability to lift 30lbs

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
  • This is a flexible position working a minimum of 20 hours per week, with the potential to become a full time position during the summer months and/or after graduation. Northland Management Services will attempt to reasonably work around any class schedule or extra-curricular programs.
 
Education Requirements:
  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Intention of taking and passing Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam.
 
Education Preferences:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

Experience Preferences:
  • Knowledge of and experience with:
  • Microsoft Dynamics Software
  • Management Reporter
  • IT Sub-Systems
