Producer Services & U.S. Pork Center of Excellence Intern 2020

The successful candidate will assist with the development and delivery of pork producer education and training programs offered by the National Pork Board and the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence. He or she will complete special projects and will work at various education activities during World Pork Expo. He or she will also work with the training programs, development and implementation of events for producers as part of the National Pork Board’s Producer Services Department. Additionally, the successful candidate will work with Swine Science Online, Professional Swine Manager, the Pork Information Gateway and other U.S. Pork Center of Excellence projects as assigned. 

The job(s) involve some travel to events, meetings, and/or junior swine shows to represent Pork Checkoff and/or the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence. Some of the projects include development of PowerPoint presentations, brochure development, graphics inventory, exam management for e-learning courses, curriculum development, website management, as well creating marketing/sales pieces for each of our items that we inventory and market to producers and other educational projects as they arise. 

Candidates A familiarity with the pork industry is recommended; an agriculture education or agricultural communication major is preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication skills including written, telephone and web skills. Additionally, the successful candidate should be goal oriented and excel in leadership skills. Some overnight travel may be required.

Criteria for applying:
  • Our internships are generally scheduled May 18 - August 7, 2019.
  • Internships are paid 40 hours, over 12 weeks.
  • All intern positions are based at our office in Clive, IA.
  • All interns will be expected to secure their own housing for the summer.

The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public.
