Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Brown County
Internship Opportunity

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Brown County is a volunteer-based
nonprofit organization that provides a voice for abused and neglected children who are
under the legal protection of the court system.

We recruit, train and support citizen volunteers to advocate on behalf of children under
court protection until they are safe and thriving in permanent homes. CASA volunteers
visit the child regularly and submit a monthly report to the judge on the child's safety
and well-being to help the judge make important decisions on the child's future.

CASA of Brown County offers flexible and challenging internships to students of local
colleges.

Among other things, interns will learn and may participate in:
1. Observe dependency court hearings to learn how the Court interacts with the
child welfare system.
2. Develop an appreciation for the impact CASA volunteers have on the Court and
the child welfare system.
3. Gain insight into the issues confronting children who experience abuse and/or
neglect.
4. Expand their understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
5. Participate in CASA volunteer training.
6. Learn volunteer coaching skills.
7. Practice administrative responsibilities.
